Exciting Inshore Adventure: Casting into the Marco Mangroves

Today was a great day out on the water with Denise Lingen for a 2 Hour Trip –Inshore / Afternoon with the Marco Fishing Company. March is a prime time for inshore fishing around Marco Island, with the warming spring weather bringing the fish into the flats and estuaries.

We met up at the Marco Island launch and got our gear ready, excited to see what the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve had in store. The conditions were perfect - clear skies and calm waters made for a smooth and comfortable ride as we headed out. I rigged up a variety of setups, from light tackle to heavy, knowing we'd encounter a mix of species in the diverse estuarine habitat.

As we started working the shallows and mangrove-lined coves, the fish started to show. We had some great action with jigging, bait casting, and surf casting, with both light and heavy tackle. Though we didn't manage to land any big prizes, we still had a blast working the water and trying different techniques. It was just great to be out on the water, enjoying the beautiful scenery and taking in the peaceful surroundings.
